‘Can’t believe the news’: Ian Harte stunned by update coming from Leeds United’s opponents next week

Before Sunderland’s decision to fire manager Tony Mowbray, Ian Harte said he “cannot believe” it. Leeds United takes on the Black Cats the next week. Newcastle is ranked tenth. After joining Sunderland in the summer of 2022 and leading the Wearside club to the play-off semi-finals last season, where they were defeated by Luton after two legs, Mowbray amassed 65 games as manager of the Wearside club.

An amazing feat considering the inexperienced team he had, the limited financial resources, and the fact Sunderland had just recently been promoted from League One to the Championship. Questionable from this term forward.

They remain in eighth place, nevertheless. Merely three points short of the playoffs. Mowbray, the former manager of Celtic and Boro, was fired by Sunderland. It is unclear if any other events contributed to this decision.

The agent of Sunderland players Jack Clarke and Niall Huggins, who both naturally began their careers at Elland Road, former Leeds defender Harte rushed to Twitter after learning of the news to express his dismay.

Ian Harte reacts as Leeds’ next week opponents sack manager

On the weekend, Leeds plays at Blackburn; nevertheless, we host Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in six days. By then, Sunderland might have a new manager in place, but that is something to watch out for.

It may take some time for the players to get used to each other and the new coach at Sunderland, though, because this is a youthful team with many talented players who get along well with Mowbray.

Next week, Leeds could be able to capitalise on it. You could be playing against a team that is in transition and has no management, or you could be playing against a manager who hasn’t yet won over his players.

David Prutton says it is clear to see how much Georginio Rutter is ‘loving life’ at Leeds United after speaking to him last month. In the week preceding Leeds’ 1-1 match with Rotherham United after the November international break, Prutton spoke with Rutter and Joel Piroe.

Rutter had well-documented difficulties in the months after his transfer from Hoffenheim to Elland Road in January, but he has more than recovered this season.

In addition, Prutton said in an interview with Sky Sports News this morning that he no longer feels the weight of the enormous transfer sum Leeds paid to acquire him.

Rutter has already recorded four goals and seven assists for the season. His ingenuity stands out in particular, as he has easily generated the most significant opportunities in the Championship.

Rutter has become unplayable at Leeds

According to Prutton, Rutter has been able to perform at his best because of Piroe’s goals, which have relieved some of the strain on him as Leeds’ starting striker.

“Georgie was discussing the different pressure that comes with playing centre forward for Leeds United when I chatted with him the other week.

In terms of transfer fees, he is facing a substantial debt of about £30 million. He appears to be enjoying his life on Elland Road. A significant portion of that has been [Joel] Piroe.

Michael Dawson has called Leeds’ front four “unplayable” at this level, and Rutter is possibly the most significant member of that group.

The club’s passion for Rutter is evident from Glen Kamara’s comments, who expressed his happiness after the 21-year-old broke his Elland Road duck last week.

For the remainder of the season, hopefully, he can keep up his current level of play and lead Leeds back to the Premier League.
