Massive setback for Tottenham: Star player could be out for longer than expected

Massive setback for Tottenham: Star player could be out for longer than expected

James Maddison’s extended absence from Tottenham is now predicted, which is a severe blow.

One of the season’s acquisitions is James Maddison. He cost £40 million to join Spurs from Leicester City, and he has shown to be an excellent value.

After just 11 games, he scored 3 goals and 5 assists, instantly becoming a fan favourite.

His skill was crucial to Tottenham’s run of ten games without a loss. He helped them to eight victories and two draws before to their first loss, which came against Chelsea.

Their amazing start was further hampered by the long-term injuries sustained by two important players, Maddison and Micky van ve Ven.

Presumably a preventative replacement, Maddison’s injury turned out to be more serious than expected, putting him out of commission for a considerable amount of time.

First rumours suggested a January comeback, but new information from The Athletic (via The Spurs Watch) indicates that Maddison’s ankle injury from last month’s match against Chelsea may cause a setback that prevents him from playing until February.

In a recent interview, Maddison expressed his annoyance and bemoaned the injury’s severity, acknowledging that it was the longest he had ever had.

Ben Foster heard him say this on Amazon Prime Video Sport:

“If it’s three months, that’s probably the longest [injury] I’ve had; I’ve never really gone over that.” It irritates me.

Spurs fans may take this as a major setback as they had anticipated his return by January.

But opportunity arises when faced with hardship. With two incredible goals in as many games, Giovani Lo Celso has effectively filled the void left by Maddison’s injury and put on an impressive show while the midfielder was out.

Spurs are going through a difficult time without their star, but there is hope thanks to Lo Celso’s rise.

The most recent reports state that Tottenham has now reached out to sign Samuel Iling-Junior, a winger for Juventus.

The most recent reports state that Tottenham has now reached out to sign Samuel Iling-Junior, a winger for Juventus.

The winger is rumoured to be moving to North London in the forthcoming transfer window.

Journalist Daniele Longo of Calciomercato said last week that Tottenham will try to sign the winger in January.

He has since provided an update on their pursuit, stating that Spurs have already contacted Juventus about a potential transfer.

The player can sign with Spurs as early as January, he continues.

He shared the update on X (translated below):

“Confirmations on our anticipation, Iling-Junior can go to Tottenham as early as January. Contacts in progress”

According to reports, Juventus is eager to let go of the 20-year-old in order to raise money for another midfield player.

The Serie A powerhouses are looking to add to their roster and are demanding a transfer fee of between €15 and €20 million, an amount that Tottenham believes to be reasonable.

Tottenham needs reinforcements immediately because of Richarlison’s difficulties both on and off the pitch, as well as their continuous injury crisis, which includes the prolonged absences of Perisic and Solomon.

The club is rumoured to be prioritising a left-sided attacking player, and Iling-Junior’s versatility may offer the necessary depth.

The young winger is apparently keen to leave Juventus and is looking for more regular playing time.

He might end up being a good addition to the team, especially if Spurs will be able to get his services for a fair price in what is otherwise a competitive market.
