Andre tipped for Fulham move despite Premier League interest

Andre might have signed with a Premier League team during the summer transfer window if things had worked out differently for him this season. Liverpool made an August offer for the midfield player, but Fluminense, a Brazilian team, quickly turned it down.

The Merseyside team’s offer, which is rumoured to be in the neighbourhood of £24 million, did not impress Fluminense, who were eager to hold onto him until the end of their season. It’s just as well that they did, since Fluminense went on to earn a spot in South America’s version of the Europa League, the Copa Sudamericana.

But now that the Brazilian season is over and the January transfer window is approaching, speculation about a move to the Premier League has resumed, with Fulham being the team most likely to sign him.

Fulham pushing move for Brazilian starlet Andre

Given the history of other connected clubs, Fulham is an unlikely contender, but if they are successful in signing Andre, it will be a major victory for the west London team. And it appears like they’re getting closer to making it happen, if reports are to be believed.

According to FootballTransfers, Fulham, who have been following Andre’s development since the beginning of the year, are now in a prime position to sign the anchorman. The Premier League team is rumoured to have been working hard to persuade Andre that Craven Cottage is the best location for his growth and that it could eventually serve as a springboard for a move to an elite European club.

Even though there is a lot of anticipation surrounding Andre’s possible arrival, there are rumours that Joao Palhinha, a key player for Fulham, may be leaving the team soon as well. With Andre almost ready to sign a contract, Palhinha, the Portuguese star, appeared destined to join Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window. However, it appears that Palhinha may be leaving as well.

Dean Jones update – Andre

Transfer insider Jones provided an update on Andre’s chances of joining Fulham and disclosed the extent of their efforts to persuade the midfielder’s entourage. It seems Fulham is making every effort to sign Andre in January, as evidenced by the suggestion that they’ve sent representatives to Brazil to participate in negotiations:

“I know there is still some concern about that, just in case a bigger club suddenly swoops in, but Andre’s impending arrival in the Premier League is pretty exciting and Fulham seems to be the favourites to win the race right now.

“Fulham has been really proactive about this, as evidenced by their delegation visiting Brazil last week. Though the club seems pretty adamant they don’t intend to lose him in the winter window, it does make you wonder if there is an acceptance that Joao Palhinha will be leaving. I do think there is some substance to that.

“Perhaps it is a case of Andre coming in and finding his feet for five months before going full throttle next season. We have seen that happen before with players outside of the main European leagues and it could make sense to bed him in slowly.”

Andre price tag revealed amid Fulham rumours

Even if Fulham prevails in the race and strikes a deal with Andre regarding a transfer to the Premier League, the capital team will still need to wrap up talks with Fluminense regarding his transfer fee. According to the same FootballTransfers report, Fluminense is reportedly asking for £34 million to allow him to depart in January, which is £10 million more than what Liverpool offered back in the summer transfer window.

Andre will become the club’s all-time record transfer if that is the case and Fulham spends £34 million in the winter market, surpassing the £27 million spent on Jean Michael Seri in 2018.
