Five Leeds players could be set for Jan transfers after Elland Rd exit confirmed

Five Leeds United players could reunite with Michael Skubala in January after he was appointed as Lincoln City head coach, according to Joe Donnohue.

Following the confirmation of the former Whites U-21 manager’s appointment on Monday, November 13, the journalist wrote on the Yorkshire Evening Post website on Tuesday, November 14. The article stated that there is potential for one or more of Lewis Bate, Mateo Joseph, Darko Gyabi, Sean McGurk, and Sonny Perkins to join the League One team.

He went on to say that the 41-year-old is still well regarded in the U-21 team after leaving, and he hinted that Leeds would have “few qualms” if he tried to recruit some of the young players on loan in January.

It is possible for one or more of the United teenagers to return with Skubala after working with him for the previous season and a half at Leeds alongside players like Lewis Bate, Mateo Joseph, Darko Gyabi, Sean McGurk, and Sonny Perkins, according to Donnohue.

Leeds would probably have little concerns if Lincoln were to approach them in January about loaning some of the young Whites players who are now on the rise. “Skubala was widely-regarded as a popular figure and coach at Leeds and remains well thought of within the U-21 squad.”

Makes sense

If Leeds allowed Skubala to take some of their young players on loan during the January transfer window, it would actually make a lot of sense.

A few of the players who were named would be happy to have additional chances to play in the first team, and they will probably get them at Lincoln under their former manager.

Having worked with some of those players for a respectable amount of time, he ought to be aware of the best ways to handle them as they adjust to life on the senior squad.

The Whites would probably support Skubala after his strong performance at Elland Road, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he looked to bring in some of his former players on loan in January.

The transfer window is less than two months away, so it will be interesting to watch what happens in this area as there will undoubtedly be a lot of speculating going on.
