Tottenham is “sticking around” the Championship-best Leeds United player in the January transfer window, delivering a “huge blow.” Pascal Struijk

According to Carlton Palmer, Leeds United’s chances of gaining promotion would be severely damaged if Pascal Struijk were to leave for Tottenham in January.

Football League World was informed by the pundit on November 11 that the “complete and mature defender” is currently the “best in the Championship.” Given his current form, other clubs, particularly Spurs—who recently lost Micky van der Ven to a “crippling” injury during their 4-1 loss to Chelsea on November 6—will undoubtedly show interest.

Although Palmer is confident the team will make every effort to persuade Struijk, 24, to stay and compete in the main event at Elland Road once again, the 24-year-old has been mentioned as an Ange Postecoglou destination.

“Pascal Struijk is reportedly being pursued by Tottenham Hotspur,” Palmer stated. Micky van de Ven, the center-back for Spurs, will be out for a lengthy amount of time due to a devastating hamstring injury.

It is possible that they intend to add more defensive reinforcements during the January transfer window. Leeds’ Dutch center-half is being ruled by them.

He is an extremely resolute defender who exudes confidence when handling the ball. Being the finest defender in the Championship, he is developing into a fully formed and mature player.

“This would be a huge blow for Leeds United in their quest for promotion. Unfortunately for them, when a player is doing well, there is always unwanted attention.

“From the club’s perspective, Leeds will be hoping to keep hold of him and will be saying that – ‘you will be playing in the Premier League next season’.”

Conversations will inevitably arise.

Leeds United has benefited from defensive reinforcements from Spurs rather than the other way around thus far this season.

The Welshman and Struijk have established a strong midfield partnership, and Joe Rodon’s loan move has been crucial in stabilising a back line that had been insecure for a considerable amount of time.

Significant things are still anticipated of the second temporary addition from Postecoglou’s roster when he returns following the international break, even though Djed Spence may have sustained an injury following his Whites debut.

Leeds United

Since Rodon won’t be returning to Spurs in January due to Van der Ven’s injury, Daniel Farke would undoubtedly not want to lose Struijk in the middle of the season. This week, Farke emphasised the need for continuity at the back.

Due to a minor hernia operation, Struijk has had to miss some time. Liam Cooper filled in for the German during this weekend’s 2-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle, but Struijk will want to return as soon as possible.

Since Struijk’s impressive half-season in the Championship probably doesn’t offset his uneven previous two seasons in the top flight, it is actually difficult to imagine Tottenham being willing to invest what it would undoubtedly take to lure him away.

Struijk may come up in the conversation between the two parties as they are sure to be talking about potential futures for Spence and Rodon, but it seems doubtful that Farke will part with the regular starter unless he has huge ambitions for Charlie Cresswell.
