Report: Daniel Levy wants to sell £85,000-a-week Tottenham Hotspur player in January

TRANSFER NEWS: DANIEL LEVIY’S STANCE ABOUT A £85,000-A-WEEK PLAYER FOR TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy plans to sell Eric Dier in the January transfer window. The Mirror, which has reported that two teams are interested in Tottenham defender Dier, says as much. What information is out there regarding Eric Dier, Daniel Levy, and Tottenham Hotspur?

What’s the story?

In order to raise some cash, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy reportedly wants to sell Eric Dier during the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.

At the conclusion of the season, Dier’s contract with the Spurs expires.

The defender is being pursued by Portuguese powerhouse Sporting Lisbon and Italian team AS Roma, which is currently led by former Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho.

Dier, who struggled in his match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, moved from Sporting to Tottenham in 2014.

According to the source, Dier would like to become a free agent and leave Tottenham at the conclusion of the season, but club chairman Daniel Levy “plans to command a fee for” the defender in January.

Eric Dier should stay put at Tottenham Hotspur

Eric Dier ought to stay at Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window, in my opinion.

In my opinion, Dier ought to finish out his Tottenham deal before joining another team.

That being said, the 29-year-old (Spotrac), who currently earns £85,000 a week, will have the opportunity to negotiate a better contract when he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2020.

Dier, who is also capable of playing as a midfielder, is apparently of interest to Sporting Lisbon and AS Roma.

In my opinion, signing Dier for a transfer fee in the midst of the season would not be as attractive to Roma and Sporting as it would be as a free agent next summer.

Dier’s career total in the Premier League is 272 appearances.

During those games, the Englishman has tallied 12 goals, provided nine assists, and maintained 86 clean sheets.
