Tottenham finally find Kane replacement as Postecoglou prepares swoop for highly sought-after striker

In the summer transfer window of the following year, Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly very much in the running to sign Ivan Toney away from Brentford.

After serving his FA suspension, Toney will be able to return to the field in January. The center striker has even been linked to a few higher-level teams, sparking rumors that he would make a move during the winter transfer window.

Chelsea and Arsenal are two of the teams who are most commonly mentioned as potential bidders, but a reliable source disclosed on Tuesday that the former would rather wait to make an offer until the end of the current campaign.

A reliable source reports that Tottenham will be fighting for Toney’s signature in the summer, so it seems like they have similar views, but they could very well challenge them.

Not to mention that the England international hasn’t played since the previous campaign, Brentford’s expectations for a mid-season sale of at least £70 million are off-putting.

But by the summer, Toney will be 28 years old, and if he has managed to get his career back on track by then, he may be prepared to challenge himself even further.

After all, after playing with Brentford since 2020, Tony has requested to go, according to unique information just revealed by TEAMtalk.

Although it is unclear how Brentford’s asking price would alter given that he may only have one year left on his contract, they may come under increasing pressure the longer the story continues.

Whatever the case, Tottenham is set to challenge Arsenal, Chelsea, and maybe Manchester United for the services of the former Newcastle player.Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou

After seeing one of their academy graduates become their all-time leading scorer, Harry Kane was sold by Spurs to Bayern Munich during the summer. Since then, his performance in Germany has been outstanding.

Although Tottenham hasn’t signed a first-team replacement yet, they’ve been managing without one very successfully.

Tottenham would be drawn to Toney because of his Premier League background. It’s unclear who would win a bidding battle, though.

Since Kane was traded to Bayern, Ange Postecoglou has primarily used Son Heung-min as a center-forward. While Alejo Veliz, the striker they did sign in the summer, is still a young player, Richarlison needs some time off to address a physical issue.

Four-horse race for Ivan Toney

However, as previously said, Toney is also attracting the attention of two of Tottenham’s London rivals. If Arsenal wants to position higher in the Premier League than their second-place showing from the previous year, many believe they need to upgrade at center-forward.

Chelsea, however, made an investment in Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal during the summer. However, even if he scored a hat-trick against Tottenham on Monday, switching up his lineup with a more experienced player might aid in his transition.

Then there is Manchester United, who may be thinking along similar lines about Rasmus Hojlund, who hasn’t scored in the Premier League since joining from Atalanta.

Toney appears to have a plethora of elite clubs at his disposal, but for the time being, his priorities are returning to the field.

His stats for Brentford were 68 goals in 124 games prior to his suspension. In his debut season, he assisted the Bees in moving up from the Championship, and he has since established himself at the highest level alongside the team.

Toney scored 20 Premier League goals in the previous season, which was sufficient to draw England manager Gareth Southgate’s attention and set him up for a March 2023 debut.

Some of the Premier League’s top have also taken notice of his performances, but they may have to wait to see if they will be able to acquire him.
