Report: Fulham willing to make club-record offer to sign Spurs-linked striker

Fulham is now prepared to submit a sizable bid to capture Santiago Gimenez, who is reportedly a target for Tottenham, according to W Deportes.

Gimenez has emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific attackers since the beginning of the season, and it comes as no surprise that following an outstanding start to the campaign, the striker is reportedly drawing interest from a number of the continent’s top players.

Over the past month, a number of media sources have reported that Tottenham is interested in the Feyenoord star (90 minutes). Fabrizio Romano verified last week that the Lilywhites have been keeping an eye on the striker for some time (YouTube channel).

Gimenez is believed to be under consideration by Real Madrid (The Daily Mirror) and Barcelona (Sport), thus Spurs will likely have fierce competition for his services.

Fulham now keen on Spurs-linked Gimenez

The most recent information from WDeportes is that Tottenham may have to compete with London rivals Fulham for the Mexican international.

According to the source, the Cottagers are giving top priority to bringing in a number nine to take Aleksandr Mitrovic’s spot after the Serbian moved to Al-Hilal in the summer.

Gimenez is rumored to be a priority target for Marco Silva’s team, and they are prepared to make a club record deal of €50 million (£43 million) for the striker.

Gimenez would undoubtedly find Tottenham to be a far more alluring destination than Fulham.

It is unclear, though, if the North London team would spend more than £40 million on a number nine in January given that improving midfield, wide areas, and center defense are more important needs.

Fulham set to receive £3m offer for Marco Silva’s “revelation” in January

The Cottagers are fighting to keep hold to one of their most valuable possessions.

A reputable journalist has revealed that one of Fulham’s first-team players is desired by a major overseas club before January, therefore the club may be forced to part ways with him next year.

Fulham’s form and results so far

After winning three, drawing three, and losing four of their first ten games in the new top flight season, Marco Silva’s team has had a rough start. As a result, they are now ranked 14th in the league standings.

In light of the fact that the Cottagers are currently only seven points above the relegation zone, the board may need to consider selling certain players in order to make room for better ones if the current trend of performance continues until the open window.

After signing a contract to join the team from Flamengo in 2021, Rodrigo Muniz has made 35 appearances overall. However, he has recently fallen out of favor, as evidenced by his loan to Middlesbrough in the Championship last season (Transfermarkt – Muniz statistics).

The Brazilian striker has only appeared as a substitute four times this season in the Premier League (WhoScored – Muniz statistics), and it looks that the 22-year-old has attracted the attention of a new fan base abroad.

Atletico Madrid interested in Rodrigo Muniz

In an article for Goal Brasil (via Sport Witness), Thiago Fernandes claims that Atletico Madrid is preparing a proposal for Muniz in January. Beginning in the new year, the La Liga team is “preparing an offer” for the center-forward, which is rumored to be in the neighborhood of €4 million (£3 million).

In the upcoming weeks and months, this is a situation to closely monitor should Diego Simeone’s game time not start improving. The team has not yet made an official approach or opened negotiations to find out what the terms of an agreement might look like.

Don’t sell! Muniz is Silva’s “revelation”

Although Muniz hasn’t been able to duplicate the same level of prolific play at Fulham, Silva should keep him in the building and give him more playing time. Football talent scout Jakek Kulig called Muniz a “revelation” during his time at Flamengo.

Sponsored by Puma, the attacker has only netted six goals for the team so far, but his goal in Wednesday night’s 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Ipswich Town just goes to show that he can perform if given regular opportunities to play alongside talented players.

Muniz knows what it takes to succeed and has the winning mentality needed to improve results right now. It would be a mistake on the part of the hierarchy to allow him to leave in January, especially since the current forward options aren’t exactly hammering goals in. Muniz also assisted the club in achieving promotion back to the Premier League in his debut season at Craven Cottage.
