Bad news for Leeds United: Journalist “can’t find a reason” why Euro club signed £10m man after poor showing

Leeds United defenderRasmus Kristensen relocated to Roma during the summer, but he isn’t performing up to Jose Mourinho’s standards.

Many Leeds players who left on loan aren’t demonstrating that it was the best choice to leave the team as Leeds continues to push for promotion from the Championship this season.

Two Leeds defenders were acquired by Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the summer, including Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen, the latter of whom had injury issues.

Inter 1-0 Roma

Kristensen and his team had another important Serie A match coming up, traveling to the San Siro to play Inter Milan, the old team of Mourinho.

After being unable to play in the Europa League because he wasn’t included in their squad for FFP concerns, Kristensen made his first start since late September.

Roma’s performance wasn’t fantastic overall as the home team defeated them deservedly in the second half thanks to a goal from Marcus Thuram.

Kristensen failed to get to grips with threats from out wide, whether it be his struggles to close down crossing opportunities, or deal with aerial pressure at the back post, bailed out by Rui Patricio in the first half.

Thuram’s goal came from a Federico Dimarco cross where Kristensen didn’t get nearly close enough to stop him.

Will Roma sign Kristensen permanently?

It appears unlikely that Leeds will be able to recover the £10 million that they spent to get Kristensen back in the summer of 2022.

Alessandro Oricchio, an Italian journalist, stated as much, stating that he could not understand why Roma would bother to retain him into the summer of 2024:

“I can’t find a reason that is one of Kristensen’s ownership. One.”

Few supporters anticipated Kristensen would move to Roma and perform in a way that was nonexistent in this place.

Rather, he’s done about as well as he did this time, which is not good.

It did appear puzzling that someone like Mourinho would eager to bring him in, given how much his team needs reliable defenders.

We have to cash in since he is not coming back here, no matter how much we collect for him in the summer.
