BBC pundit shocked by ‘fantastic’ Georginio Rutter this season with Leeds United forward in ‘unfortunate position’

Ross McCormack claims that although Georginio Rutter has been “fantastic” for Leeds United this season, he still has “even greater impact” to make.

After a string of outstanding performances under Daniel Farke, the BBC Radio Leeds pundit declared live on the station on Saturday, October 28, before of the Whites’ 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town, that the French forward had “massively surprised” him with his play this season.

But because Rutter’s transfer fee is so high for the second division, McCormack doesn’t think anything the player performs this season will be completely satisfying after Rutter cost the club a club record £35.5 million last January [Sky Sports].

“He’s surprised me massively this season, but he’s in a bit of an unfortunate position because no matter how well he does this season, it’s probably not going to be enough for that price tag in the Championship,” the former Whites striker stated at 12:17 p.m.

However, he has performed admirably this season and is making some outstanding plays. Since there are 46 games in the season, it’s acceptable to state that he carried the team against Stoke; they lost 1-0. However, I would prefer to see him do the same when the team wins. It’s there someplace, so I want to see him go and make an even bigger effect.

Come good

It is hard to argue that anyone had any intention of Rutter playing a supporting role in the Premier League the previous season and then blowing up after the team was down.

The conundrum for the 21-year-old at Elland Road is that, although the squad really required someone who was ready to save a top tier side from the drop, he may not have been bought for as much money by Victor Orta last season.

And the Whites would never have signed him in the Championship for that money, but his inclusion on the team in this tier may prove to be crucial to their promotion.

Rutter has been looking like a player worth breaking the club record for this year, whether it’s due to better man management under Daniel Farke, more experience at the club that could only give him more confidence and comfort, or just the simple fact that he is more talented than what the second tier requires.

'Surprised me massively' - BBC pundit warns 'Fantastic' Leeds ace stuck in 'unfortunate position'

McCormack is probably correct in saying that the former Hoffenheim player won’t have yet made his money justified, even if he manages Leeds United back to the top division.

He can truly establish himself only if he is back in the Premier League, but he is making every effort to get there right now.
