Premier League pundit hails 22-year-old Tottenham player’s efforts v Palace
Premier League analyst David Prutton praised Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson for his efforts in the team’s second goal on Friday night.
With a 2-1 victory away at Crystal Palace, Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham team expanded their lead at the top of the Premier League standings to five points.
Following a goalless first half, James Maddison’s pass into the six-yard box beat Joel Ward and found its way into the Palace goal to give Spurs the lead in the 53rd minute.
Then, in the 66th minute, Tottenham extended their lead thanks to a combination from Johnson and Maddison, who finished with Son Heung-min set up by the 22-year-old.
Prutton was impressed with all three players’ play. What a goal, he said to the Premier League website. From beginning to end, it’s breathtaking.
Brennan Johnson was heavily involved in the build-up, with a nice, late one-two with James Maddison and a roll across the box for Son to tap in.
Jordan Ayew chested the ball down and fired past Guglielmo Vicario for Palace’s second goal in injury time. VAR took some time to confirm the goal.
Tottenham, on the other hand, managed to hold on and now leads the Premier League table by five points.
Johnson looks like a future Tottenham star – TBR View
Wow, what a fantastic outcome and what a fantastic season Tottenham is enjoying. With each player taking a stand and being counted, Spurs are starting to resemble a cohesive one.
Johnson undoubtedly has the appearance of a future superstar. Just minutes after coming off the bench, he helped Tottenham secure a vital second goal. He has performed admirably thus far.

In the post-match interview, Gary Neville and Ange Postecoglou joked around a little.
With a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park, Ange’s team increased their lead at the top of the standings.
Now, they have five more points than Arsenal and Manchester City, who play later this weekend.

Ange had earlier in the season made light of Neville’s comparison of his strategies to Manchester City by making jokes about imitating Pep Guardiola.
Jamie Carragher made a lighthearted question to the Spurs boss at their post-match conversation at Selhurst Park:
Do you think you’ll be able to communicate your thoughts more effectively as the season progresses without playing European football? Since you are currently merely mimicking Pep, is that correct?
The manager of Tottenham jokingly retorted:
“I just study one game a week to see what he’s doing!”
“I see what he’s doing and go from there. And do you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Neville jumped in to admit that he tried to copy Pep’s tactics when he was at Valencia as well to which the quick witted Spurs manager said: “How’d that go?”
Neville, Kelly Cates, and Jamie Carragher were all in stitches by the harsh reply.
