Following Daniel Farke’s team’s 3-2 victory over the Canaries at Carrow Road, Newsome was speaking to BBC Radio Leeds.

However, Leeds found it to be a difficult time on their right flank.The inexperience of Archie Gray in the right-back position was evident at times, such as for the second Norwich goal when he was drawn in by Gabriel Sara’s deft footwork.

However, Newsome has defended the 17-year-old, asserting that some of his best work was being wasted because James was finding it difficult to hold onto the ball.

“I think we highlighted it on the commentary. A couple of times, Daniel James wasn’t helping Archie Gray out at all,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

With the way he has put his head down to support the club this season, Daniel James has gained a lot of supporters. On the last day of the summer window the previous year, he appeared to be forced out the door, which was unpleasant to witness.

He may have been excused for wanting to join the host of players who appeared eager to leave their current teams this past summer after helping Fulham stay in the division.

He is, however, on track to produce Leeds’ finest season to date. While it ought to be five following yesterday’s victory, he only has four assists.

For the manner he has embraced the right-back position, Archie Gray is deserving of high praise. Saturday’s performance wasn’t his greatest. However, it is very easy to see the potential.

The fact that Leeds is winning despite being a long way from their best is also very significant.
