Ange Postecoglou’s time at Tottenham may still be in its infancy, but for the supporters that may be an even more optimistic indicator of things to come. Over the course of one summer, Spurs underwent a transformation as the new manager implemented his own approach that was very different from that of his predecessors.

This adventurous manner of playing football has been able to shine through thanks to the summer’s influx of fresh, exciting talent, and the results are largely speaking for themselves. Unbeaten in the league, six victories, two ties, and maybe most significantly, first place.

 

The possibility exists even if it may not be how the rest of the season plays out and there is a chance that a variety of variables might end this streak. So the question is whether Spurs finally have the guy to prevent their much anticipated next trophy win this time around.

When asked if Tottenham is the place where he can achieve his goals, Postecoglou said in an interview with FourFourTwo, “I think I’ve done it my whole career mate, I’ve never had the need to feel validated because I hadn’t done it at a level people think you need to do it.

“All the football clubs I’ve been at I can comfortably say that if I go back there, then I’ll be welcomed back because I’ve made an impact. This is another opportunity to do that at obviously one of the biggest clubs in the world in the major competition in the world, so I get that there’s more of an emphasis around it.

 

“But, you know everywhere I’ve been I’ve tried to do the same thing, leave a mark and you know wherever I’ve been so far, I’ve done that.”

With that as the goal, there will always be skepticism regarding Tottenham’s potential and their ability to go above and beyond it. Postecoglou does not want to place any restrictions on the lengths to which his team and players will go in an effort to win a trophy.

“Who knows mate, why would I bother putting a limit on it, you know?” the Australian head coach continued. “Again when I started 26-years ago if somebody said to you… this bloke is gonna end up managing one of the biggest clubs in the world after managing one of the most famous clubs in the world and is gonna have all this success, you would’ve said ‘Nah, that ain’t gonna happen, that’s a Hollywood script’.

“I’ve kind of learnt in my life not to put a limit on where I’m gonna end up and I’m not gonna put a limit on what this football club can do.”

When fans were frequently informed they couldn’t compete a few months ago, the mood and vibe were totally different. Postecoglou, however, has them envisioning a different path, and they are prepared for the voyage ahead.
