Spanish media left stunned by Tottenham 20-year-old who’s ‘astonishing all of Europe’
Destiny Udogie, a defender for Tottenham Hotspur, has drawn significant plaudits for his outstanding Premier League debut.
The gifted Italian was acquired by Spurs from Udinese last year, but they chose to allow him to play another season on loan in Italy. This summer, he relocated to North London, and he’s been great.

Last year, Tottenham acquired Destiny Udogie from Udinese for just £15 million (Sky Sports).
The defender wasn’t well known in England, but Fabio Paratici was eager about recruiting him, and he was successful in doing so.
Spurs fans should be grateful to Paratici for Udogie, who has been absolutely outstanding so far this season, even though he is no longer Tottenham’s sporting director. Given that this is his first season in England and that he is only 20 years old, he has probably been the finest left-back in the Premier League.
Udogie was featured in a story by the Spanish daily AS, who praised him for his performance since the campaign began.
The publication describes Destiny Udogie as “astonishing all of Europe with his self-confidence and football capacity” in an article devoted to the Spurs prospect.
He has also received praise for being “the great revelation of Europe” and for “owning the Tottenham Stadium.”
AS praise Udogie’s qualities, saying: “Udogie is bold and vertical in attack, and he is very good in defense. Fast and with a wide stride, which adds to his vision of the game and his ability to unbalance, add to his strength for his superb body in defensive work.
Over the past few years, Tottenham’s hiring practices have drawn a lot of criticism, but this time around, Daniel Levy and company appear to have done a great job.
James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Guglielmo Vicario in goal have all performed admirably. Already, Manor Solomon and Brennan Johnson have displayed flashes of greatness.
Destiny Udogie, the surprise package, has been phenomenal for Tottenham as well, and given that he is still only 20 years old, he will only get better in the years to come.
Tottenham has made a tremendous discovery in Udogie, and the future should thrill supporters of the club.
