James Maddison has lavished praise on Destiny Udogie, admitting that the youngster has really taken to the role he has been asked to play at Tottenham.

Udogie has adapted quickly to the physicality and intensity of the Premier League as well as the tactical requirements of the inverted full-back position in Ange Postecoglou’s system.

By handling two of the top players in the Premier League, Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah, in the matches against Arsenal and Liverpool, respectively, the 20-year-old demonstrated exactly how high his potential is.

The teenage left-back for Italy’s Under-21 team has received a lot of acclaim recently. Graham Roberts believes he has the potential to earn $100 million, while Micky Hazard believes he will develop into the best left-back in Tottenham history.

Maddison is the most recent to extol the virtues of the left-back, acknowledging that the former Udinese player possesses few weaknesses.

Football London quoted the 26-year-old as saying, “Destiny is just a beast, man. He is excellent.

When I talk about learning and adapting with the manager’s new style, him playing inside is not natural to him. He’s still working on that himself.

“He’s actually better on the ball and he can take the ball and dribble in the middle of the pitch and open it up for us. He’s got good receiving skills and he’s so powerful and so good.”
