‘Smart movement’: Daniel Farke says one Leeds man was ‘crucial to win on Saturday, just his third start

Glen Kamara, in the opinion of Daniel Farke, was “crucial” to Leeds United’s victory over Bristol City on Saturday. For the first time in nearly a year, Leeds had won back-to-back games when Farke made these remarks in his post-game press conference.

Kamara didn’t play in Leeds’ 1-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers in the middle of the week but returned to the lineup against the Robins.

The 27-year-old was crucial to Leeds’ first goal of the game, as his first move in midfield created room for the Whites to attack.

As soon as it first fell apart, Kamara was there to quickly recover possession in Bristol City’s end zone before Georginio Rutter’s cross eventually made its way to Dan James for the goal.

Farke says Kamara was ‘crucial’ to Leeds win

After the game, Farke commented on Kamara’s performance, saying that his ‘between the lines’ passing was ‘crucial’ to taking down a’solid side like Bristol City.

Always able to locate the gaps between the lines, he claimed. We need to be steadfast now, especially in light of Bristol City. Considering Glen Kamara was absent on Wednesday, I got the impression that we wanted to get him back on the field. Smart movement and a great find of Piroe led to the first goal, which was scored off of counter-pressing. Important as well.

After joining Leeds from Rangers in the summer, Kamara was making only his third start, and without a doubt, it was his best performance in a white shirt to yet.

Since he had performed well against Watford, Kamara seemed more inclined to dribble and send the ball forward, which was crucial.

Although Leeds have several choices in the middle of the field, his performance today may have given him temporary ownership of the position.
