It’s been reported that the experienced forward will be out for at least six months, which could mean he won’t play again until the end of March or the beginning of April. Earlier this week, it was also reported that Spurs have agreed to let Perisic go back to his old club, Hajduk Split, in January, while they’re also in talks with the Croatian side about 16-year old wonderkid, Lukas Vuskovic.

Although Perisic’s injury is still unknown, Jones is skeptical that we will see the former Inter Milan player play again for Ange Postecoglou’s team before his contract expires in the summer of 2019.

The injury to the seasoned wide player was described by the journalist as “pretty sad” and “given the extent of the injury that he suffered, it’s got to be possible that we have seen Ivan Perisic in a Tottenham shirt for the last time,” according to the source.

“When he came into Tottenham, I was thinking the setup that they had, at the time, he was going to be a very important player in terms of their goal output, but obviously it was only a two-year contract when he arrived.

“And with this injury, with the age that he’s at with a rehabilitation that he’s now going to have to go through, it’s going to be extremely tough for him on a personal level and Tottenham will have to decide what their expectations are of him and what his career path is going to be from there in terms of whether he has any future at the club, but a pretty sad way for that to end if that is the case.”

Any possibility of a January transfer is eliminated by Perisic’s injury. The player will be trying to make a comeback before the season is through and play a few games so that he can enter the Euros next summer in match shape. I thus wouldn’t rule that out.
