Stephen Warnock seriously impressed with how £25m Tottenham player dealt with Luis Diaz

Luis Diaz, the Liverpool star, has been getting the hang of things at Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s paying off. The £25m-winning midfielder is playing some of his best football in his time at the club, and Stephen Warnock has been impressed with how much improvement he’s made in just a short period of time.

There have been some big questions about Pedro Porro since he joined from Sporting CP in January, but he delivered his best performance in a Spurs shirt last night with a great cross that led to the winner. Pape Matar Sarabian, who didn’t get much chance to show his best when he was part of Antonio Conte’s team, has been given a fresh lease of life under Ange Postecogou.

Yves Bissouma’s transformation is undoubtedly the most noteworthy and significant change to the Spurs team.

The 27-year-old has seized control of the defensive front-sitting position and defended a back four that was given the go-ahead to assault.

Luis Diaz believed he could use this last night against Tottenham, but Bissouma had other plans.

Despite the fact that the Colombian originally had the upper hand over his opponent in one aspect of play yesterday, avoiding Bissouma’s attention is harder said than done.

Bissouma dominates Diaz in Tottenham win

Bissouma was praised for his tenacity during one of Liverpool’s first-half attacks, with Warnock saying: “It was brilliant from [Yves]. He lost the ball to Luis Diaz and then Diaz sold Cristian [Romero] with a Cruyff turn, and it was [Bissouma] back at him, getting close to him. “Bissouma did miss Diaz later in the half, when he thought he had levelled, but Tottenham took advantage of an offside call.

“With Liverpool down to nine men and trying to fight for a point, Diaz was sacrificed.” Bissouma has been praised for his performances all season, having made more tackles than anyone else in Europe, and he added another four last night as he tried to cover every surface on the pitch.
