Tottenham supporters’ group ‘deeply concerned’ over club’s new sponsorship deal
Non-members will eventually be able to purchase Spurs Fan Token for $2 (£1.64).
According to Spurs, the Socios relationship will also provide funding for the Reignite program of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which aims to offer adult work possibilities and assistance for a healthy lifestyle in the neighborhood.
However, shortly after the announcement, the THST issued a statement expressing its “deep concern” about the collaboration and how it would allow a “third party provider to monetise fandom”.
“The club says One Hotspur members and season ticket holders will be provided with one and five free tokens, respectively, and the arrangement then encourages fans to enter a cryptocurrency ecosystem of which many fans will have little knowledge but will be encouraged to buy additional tokens to ‘win’ things,” the supporters’ group claimed.
“The club is trusted by fans and we fear many will end up in a system they do not understand that is designed to monetise their support and love for the club.
“It is important there should be no financial or technological barriers to fan engagement yet this relationship potentially creates both. THST expects the club to safeguard our supporters against financial loss but this partnership seemingly does the opposite by exposing fans to potential losses.
“We shall also be asking the club to confirm that supporters’ data will not be shared with any provider without further consultation or consent.”

The two parties allegedly came to a “verbal agreement” that the 34-year-old, who has a contract with Tottenham through next summer, would be permitted to transfer to Stadion Poljud in the middle of the current campaign.
Before Perisic sustained an ACL injury, which is projected to keep him out until at least March or April, this arrangement would have most likely been struck.
I actually wonder if Perisic’s injury, which required the two clubs to slightly modify the parameters of the deal, was what caused the delay in the announcement of the Vuskovic move.
