West Ham: Irons now keeping tabs on “world-class” player
According to reports, David Moyes is looking to make a January transfer move for a winger.
According to reports, West Ham United are keeping a close eye on an “world-class” footballing talent ahead of a January move.
What’s the latest West Ham transfer news?
West Ham are reportedly looking to add a new defensive midfielder during the January transfer window. According to Football Insider, the Hammers are keeping an eye on Fran Beltran from Celta Vigo, who is considered to be an expert in pressing and defending midfield positions. There have also been reports that the Hammers may be interested in Jesse Lingard, who has been training with the club since August but has now ended their interest. Additionally, it has been reported that David Moyes is considering a Saudi Pro League move for Lingard, while the Englishman is also looking to sign Diomande from Sporting CP. However, it is understood that Arsenal are also interested in Diomande, and the Mirror has reported that the two clubs may be set to compete for the same player, with Tottenham Hotspur also interested in Dembele.
The 21-year-old joined PSG from Barcelona in the summer on a one-year deal for £50m, but has struggled to make an impact since. Dembele has started all of PSG’s last five games, but has failed to find the net, prompting speculation about his future at the club.
According to the report, it’s unlikely PSG would agree to let Dembele leave France so early in his career, but if he becomes available, West Ham could make a move as they look to add more attacking power in January.
How good is Ousmane Dembele?
The France international has been described as a “world-class” footballing talent and a “magical creative winger” by journalist Muhammad Butt, and there are suggestions that he could be a real addition to West Ham’s attack.
The 24-year-old Vernon-born striker has played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Barca and now PSG. Last season, he scored five goals and provided seven assists in La Liga for Barca.
Apart from that, Dembele is also an impressive dribbler, ranking 99th in the 99th percentile for progressive carries and 96th in the last 90 years for successful takes-ons, when compared with his peers in the same position.
With the talent that Dembele can bring to West Ham, the Irons will continue to keep an eye on him ahead of January’s transfer window.
