‘CLASS’: JUDE BELLINGHAM BLOWN AWAY BY TOTTENHAM PLAYER’S PERFORMANCE V ARSENAL

Jude Bellingham has posted on Instagram that James Maddison was ‘class’ following Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the north London derby on Sunday at the Emirates.

Tottenham summer signing James Maddison went into the game on the back of his August Player of the Month award, and manager Sol Campbell was equally impressed with his performance against Arsenal. The England international was playing some of his best football of the season, and he delivered with two assists and Man of the Match awards against Premier League title contenders Arsenal.

Spurs fell a goal down inside the first half when Cristian Romero headed the ball into his own net, and Arsenal had a golden opportunity to make it two goals early in the second half when Gabriel Jesus gave James Maddison a free-kick on the edge of the box, but his effort flew over the bar. That was when the Spurs man in the middle really stepped up and raised the level of his team, getting the better of Buka Saka for the opening goal, and then pouncing on Jordi Migno Berah’s mistake just after Arsenal had gone ahead.

Jude Bellingham praises James Maddison

When Maddison posted a response to today’s result on Instagram, Real Madrid forward Jude Bellingham commented on the post with the word “class”.

James Maddison stands up tall

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been awaiting the arrival of a player of the calibre of James Maddison to fill the void left by Christian Erikson for many years. And while the wait has been long, given the level of performance that the 22-year-old has been putting on, the wait has been worthwhile.

Since making his debut against Leicester City, the former Least Favoured club, the former England international has been performing to a high standard and has established himself as a leader on and off the pitch.
