‘Impeccable’: Nation’s media blown away by £13m Leeds man’s European display, in new position
Koch is off to a flying start in Germany, having played every minute of the eight games so far. The £13m-rated striker has been used as a centre-back in the past seven games, but on Thursday he was given a new role as Frankfurt switched to a right-back line-up.
The Dutchman was moved into the centre of the back three to replace the injured Joao Moutinho, and made an immediate impact. “Koch was absolutely outstanding”, said Frankfurt newspaper “Rundschau”, “scoring a header.”
The German site referred to the player as “Excellent” under the sub-title “Impeccable” on the “Koch” website. It was noted that the player played as a “half-right” defender, and that they always stood correctly and carefully, and were strong in the face-offs. The player scored a 2-1 victory with a header.
