‘We will fight’: Pedro Porro reacts after news coming from Tottenham yesterday

Pedro Porro reacts after Tottenham confirm Ivan Perisic’s injury

Back in the summer, there was much speculation surrounding the future of Ivan Perisic at Tottenham Hotspur. The Croatian had been brought to the club by Antonio Conte, but when the Italian was dismissed, speculation began to swirl that Perisic, 34, would also be leaving the club.

Rumours of a move to Turkey and a return to Croatia were widely reported, however, nothing materialised. Perisic, however, remained at Tottenham, and has since been performing admirably under Ange postecoglou, appearing as a substitute in almost every game this season. Unfortunately, he will now miss the entirety of this campaign due to an ACL injury.

Pedro Porro has expressed his admiration for Perisic on Instagram.

He wrote: “Good recovery, brother. We will fight for you!”

The emergence of Perisic as a substitute player has been a great success for Tottenham, as he has featured in each of their opening five Premier League fixtures.

The loss of Perisic, who is expected to remain with the club until the end of the current season, is a major setback for Spurs, however, it is important to note that there are still a number of other options available to manager Paul Lambert, so it is expected that Tottenham will be able to cope without too much difficulty. The next match against Arsenal will be an exciting one.

When Liverpool travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 30 September, Perisic is expected to be out for the season after undergoing surgery.

In addition to Perisic, Tottenham will also be without Rodrigo Bentancur (concussion), Bryan Gil (illness), Ryan Sessegenon (illness) and Giovani lo Celso (illness).

A Spurs statement read: “Following non-contact training, Ivan Perisic sustained an ACL injury and will now undergo further rehabilitation with the assistance of our medical staff.
