Tottenham eyeing January swoop for Brentford star Ivan Toney
It has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to make a January move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, according to the Mirror.
Following the departure of Harry Kane to the club in the summer, it was expected that Spurs would look to sign a striker before the deadline in order to strengthen their striker pool. However, they instead chose to purchase Brennan Johnson in a £47 million deal from Nottingham Forest.
The Welsh international is capable of playing in the middle of the park, but is also adept at playing out wide. Richarlison is available to Tottenham, but has been struggling to show his best form in recent years. In recent weeks, Ange Postecogou has been utilising Son Heung-Min as a centre-forward, but he prefers to play more centrally. Therefore, it appears that Spurs are now looking to sign a striker in January, and Toney has emerged as a viable option.
The Mirror also reports that Toney is willing to leave Brentford, having recently changed his agent, and Tottenham have expressed a strong interest in signing him.
