Fabrizio Romano: Divine Mukasa completes medical to exit West Ham United, ‘here we go’

It has been reported that Divine Mukasa has undergone a medical examination at Manchester City in preparation for joining the club from West Ham Utd.

On Thursday morning, Romano wrote on his personal Twitter account that it is now a “fait accompli” for the sixteen year-old phenom to join the club. Romano added that an official statement would be issued shortly.

“Understand Divine Mukasa completed medical tests at Manchester City — it’s [a] done deal, here we go confirmed.

“England U17 midfielder will join City from West Ham, official announcement also expected soon.”

Mukasa is an up-and-coming West Ham player who is unlikely to be widely known due to his relatively young age. The England youth international turned sixteen only last month, however, he made ten appearances for the Irons’ Under-18s in the Premier League last season, scoring one goal and providing one assist, with the latter coming against Arsenal’s Under-18 on 15 April.

Man City possess one of the most successful youth recruitment strategies in the world, so the fact that they are interested in signing Mukasa speaks volumes.

We wish him the best of luck at the Etihad, however, our main concern is how much the Irons will be willing to pay for the teenage starlet.

West Ham’s youth system is highly developed and they have one of the most impressive set-ups in the country. However, when players depart at an early age, the club must take all necessary steps to ensure they receive the best possible compensation. We understand that Mukasa has a long journey ahead of him, and while we would not wish anything against his progress, it would be extremely unfortunate if the same were to happen to the Hammers.
