West Ham’s star summer signing ruled out of Europa League opener

Edson Alvarez, West Ham’s top summer acquisition, will not play in the tournament’s opening match against TSC Backa Topola of Serbia.

For the first time in the club’s history, West Ham will play in Europe for their third straight season.

The Hammers received a return to the Europa League as compensation for their spectacular victory in the Europa Conference League in June.

For their inaugural Group A match, the Hammers invite TSC Backa Topola of Serbia to the London Stadium.

Hopes are high because they advanced to the semifinals of that competition the season prior.

El Machin is creating a buzz around West Ham after instantly impressing Hammers fans

Particularly considering the four superb additions that West Ham made in the summer in Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos, and Mohammed Kudus.

The fact that Alvarez and Ward-Prowse are the team’s Declan Rice successors speaks something about West Ham’s operations.

But many West Ham supporters already believe that El Machin Alvarez is extremely essential to David Moyes’ new-look team.

West Ham’s star summer signing Edson Alvarez is ruled out of Europa League opener against Serbian side TSC Backa Topola

Many feared the worst when he left the field against Man City with the score at 1-1.

And those worries turned out to be well-founded as the visitors scored twice to completely change the game.

Many believe that without Alvarez on the field, the goals—especially the second—would not have occurred.

Alvarez, West Ham’s marquee summer acquisition, will now miss the tournament opener against TSC Backa Topola of Serbia.

First start for Kudus as Wets Ham kick off Europa League campaign?

However, it has nothing to do with the problem that caused him to withdraw the last time, which was attributed to weariness.

It’s because the new West Ham hero, who was dismissed for Ajax in their Europa League loss to Union Berlin back in February, is currently suspended.

In the waning moments of the game, Alvarez was given his marching orders and was suspended for one game that will carry over to this season’s play.

It’s unfortunate for Moyes, but given the exhaustion he felt against City, perhaps a break is all he needs.

Who do you think scored Ajax’s goal in that game? Kudus, if not that.

We can only hope that the £38 million player makes his debut and continues where he left off for West Ham’s supporters.
