Piroe had a significant role in that in the final third by expertly capping off a sweeping first-half move to score the game’s opening goal and then adding to Leeds’ lead with a true poachers’ goal in the second half.
Piroe has now scored three goals in as many games since joining Leeds from Swansea last month, demonstrating why Leeds paid over £10.5 million + add-ons to buy him.
Firpo and Struijk send Piroe message
Leeds has been longing for a striker who will frequently convert on opportunities created, and Piroe’s first goal in particular is just what they needed.
Struijk and Firpo have praised his composure after Georginio Rutter’s first-time pass, which allowed him to direct the ball with his weaker right foot into the bottom corner.
With a trip to Hull City on Wednesday, Daniel Farke’s team has a quick turnaround, so Leeds supporters will be hoping for more of the same from Piroe.
Piroe will be well on his way to surpassing the 20-goal mark, which is, of course, what Leeds purchased him for back in August, if he can continue scoring at this rate.
The fact that the 24-year-old and Rutter are clearly already getting along well and that their relationship is growing increasingly concerning for the rest of the division.
