‘I HAVE NEVER BEEN A FAN’: CRAIG BURLEY SLAMS TOTTENHAM MIDFIELDER WHO ‘PASSES IT SIDEWAYS’
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has drawn criticism from Craig Burley for not seeming to fit Ange Postecoglou’s style of play at Tottenham.
According to the former Chelsea player, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg only “passes it sideways” and has yet to start a Premier League game this season.
A new appearanceEven though they are still trailing 1-0 after 97 minutes, Tottenham this season has a reenergized midfield that is tearing teams apart. After the victory against Sheffield United, Paul Merson admitted something regarding Spurs.
A midfield that lacked flair and bite in the past has been improved by James Maddison’s swagger and attacking strength.
Then, two players who had been having trouble, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, are revitalized and performing as promised when they were first acquired.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who started the EFL Cup loss to Fulham, is left to watch from the sidelines as a result.
Hojbjerg not good enough for Tottenham
Burley admitted, “I’ve never been a big Hojbjerg fan. “I just can’t. He seems to be moving about a lot. He passes it backwards before playing with Skipp.
“I think the personnel change, especially in midfield with Maddison added, is just a huge difference,” said the player.
Does Hojbjerg have a future at Tottenham?
The Denmark star was rumored to be going for the exit door throughout the summer, but despite the chatter, he remained in the room. It is said that because he and two other players share the changing room, it can be a little “awkward.”
Hojbjerg won’t be playing anytime soon, barring an injury, therefore he will sit on the bench.
If that transfer window opens up again in January and he leaves, it wouldn’t come as a shock since Postecoglou might then be able to sign a dynamic midfielder who is more athletic to fit the kind of game he like.
