David Moyes subtly lays the blame at one man’s feet for West Ham United’s defeat to Manchester City
Although there were a few things that David Moyes would not have liked, he would have been generally pleased with how the Hammers played.
A clear error by Nayef Aguerd resulted in Man City’s equalizer.
Additionally, Moyes was obviously dissatisfied with the Moroccan’s contribution to Bernardo Silva’s goal.
Aguerd to blame for West Ham defeat to Manchester City
After yesterday’s game at the London Stadium, Moyes spoke with reporters.
As reported by WHUFC.com, the Scot quietly placed the blame for the 3-1 loss on Aguerd.
“I was more disappointed with the second goal. I thought it was poor, the second goal but, overall, I was pleased with how the players have performed and what we’ve tried to do.”
These errors seem to be made by Aguerd far too frequently.
It was truly awful how he allowed Bernardo to get the ball yesterday by letting it float over his head.
If the 27-year-old wants to keep his spot in the Hammers starting lineup, he needs to get himself together quickly.
But after his yesterday gaffe, I believe Moyes should move him to the bench. It’s not like it was a singular occasion either; he has made mistakes throughout the season.
Let’s hope he swiftly picks his thoughts back up.

Lucas Paqueta disrespected West Ham with his actions before the game against Manchester City on Saturday (16 September).
After the manager of the Citizens attempted to sign him during the summer, the Brazilian international was seen by the DAZN cameras running over to the bench to shake hands with Pep Guardiola.
On August 11, a former RMC Sport journalist named Mohamed Bouhafsi announced that the Premier League champions and the 26-year-old midfielder had reached an agreement on a six-year contract.
But soon after, Paqueta was accused of violating the FA’s gambling guidelines, and the relocation to the Etihad Stadium was abandoned.
Although a price had not yet been agreed upon, the Manchester team was thought to be getting closer to paying the £85 million asking price for West Ham after having an earlier offer rejected.
It was understandable that the midfielder was eager to swap teams, as most players would be enticed to join the top club football team at the time.
However, his conduct prior to Saturday’s match against Man City was wholly inappropriate, so it’s not surprising that Hammers supporters haven’t reacted positively to the video.
Before the game began, the Brazilian made a special effort to rush across the field and shake hands with Guardiola and other members of his coaching staff.
That indicated that he was still very intent on winning over the 52-year-old, who was eager to sign him during the transfer window, in some portion of his thoughts.
Paqueta’s whole attention at that point should have been on the Irons and assisting his team in trying to secure a win in what was always going to be a challenging game.
He could have shook hands with the Spaniard after the game and even had a private conversation with him; however, doing so in full view before the game even started was disrespectful to the crowd and his current employers.
However, the midfielder performed excellent during the game because he probably believed he still had a point to make to the Man City administration about why he would be a good addition to their team.
He was unquestionably West Ham’s best player the whole game, diving deep to gain control whenever possible and occasionally displaying some nice touches with the ball.
However, the fact that he went out of his way to welcome Guardiola doesn’t exactly create a good impression, adding fire to the rumors that it’s just a matter of time before he joins the Etihad.
Even while that might turn out to be the case in the future, he is still very much our player right now and ought to be performing differently before entering the field of play while wearing a claret and blue shirt.
