Senator wants West Ham star Paqueta banned for life if found guilty

A Brazilian lawmaker wants Lucas Paqueta of West Ham to be permanently barred if he is found guilty of the alleged unlawful betting.

If the West Ham star Lucas Paqueta is proven guilty of the allegations of illegal betting, a lawmaker from Brazil wants him to get a lifetime ban.

Lucas Paqueta, a star for West Ham, is under investigation by the FA and FIFA for possible betting violations, it was unexpectedly revealed last month.

Paqueta vehemently denies the accusations brought against him, and if he were to be found guilty, he might be subject to a “multi-year ban” or perhaps a “jail sentence.”

‘IF’ is undoubtedly the crucial word in this situation.

Three West Ham bookings this year are the focus of the allegations against Paqueta, which caused a lucrative transfer to Manchester City to fall through.

The Hammers and the player should buckle up for a long journey, based on previous investigations into the kinds of accusations being leveled against Paqueta.

A Brazilian lawmaker wants Lucas Paqueta of West Ham to be permanently barred if he is found guilty of the alleged unlawful betting.

Now, a senator from Brazil wants Paqueta, a star player for West Ham, to be permanently barred from gambling if he is proven guilty.

Jorge Kajuru, a senator from the Brazilian state of Goias, recently spoke to Diario AS about Paqueta and Luiz Henrique of Real Betis, who is also being accused of similar offenses.

And should they were proven guilty, he wants West Ham’s Brazilian duo of magnifico and Henrique to get the harshest sentence conceivable. Considering that he wants to preserve Brazil’s reputation as a football power.

Paqueta’s situation has even spurred the FA to speak with gaming companies about deleting booking bet markets, despite the fact that he has been performing admirably for West Ham despite the accusations made against him.

Paqueta was not a member of the Brazil team for their most recent international games as a result of the allegations.

Additionally, according to UOL, Brazilian officials demanded the West Ham player provide an explanation after a prior request was turned down.

‘A permanent ban is the punishment that I prefer’

“The sentences (for those found guilty) range from a 360-day suspension to a permanent ban from football, which is the punishment that I prefer,” Kajuru said.

“For three players, football is over: Gabriel Tota, Matheus Gomes and Ygor Catatau. Eight others have been sanctioned for periods ranging from 360 to 720 days: Moraes Rodrigues, Paulo Miranda, Mateusinho, Andre Queixo, Paulo Sergio, Fernando Neto, Kevin Lomonaco and Eduardo Bauermann.

“The English and Spanish Federations have opened investigations against them (Paqueta and Henrique). Now we have to wait and see if there will be punishment or not. If they are found guilty, the confederations may request a territorial extension of the sanction and FIFA may extend it worldwide.

“I sincerely hope that Brazil, the country with the most footballers in the world, does not also become known as an exporter of illegalities in the field of sports betting. That would be unfortunate.”

Paqueta Island, where Paqueta is from and where the bets are said to have been placed, is more than 800 kilometres away from Goias.

So it’s unclear why Diario AS asked a senator from that region for their view.

He might be referred to as a rent-a-quote. But it might be because Goias is a globally renowned World Heritage Site known for its historical significance. His remarks therefore have weight in that region of the world, especially in Brazil particularly when it comes to the reputation and image of the nation.
