National media warn Postecoglou he’s making ‘mistake’ at Tottenham after 28-year-old’s heroics

Tottenham Hotspur has been informed that making Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg available for transfer is a mistake.

Hojbjerg played on Sunday in Helsinki during a Euro 2024 qualifying match between Denmark and Finland.

With only a few minutes remaining, the Spurs player emerged as Denmark’s hero by drilling in a magnificent low goal to seal a 1-0 victory.

This is a crucial victory for Denmark, who currently leads Group H by one point over Finland in the battle for qualifying to the Euro 2024 tournament.

Every point counts since Slovenia and Kazakhstan aren’t far behind. Hojbjerg’s winning goal might prove essential for Denmark.

Danish media praise Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Hojbjerg really seized the opportunity to excel for Denmark despite not starting a single Premier League game for Tottenham this season.

With BT suggesting that Spurs are making a “mistake” by leaving Hojbjerg out, the Danish media was ecstatic about what they saw.

They praised Hojbjerg for rising to the occasion against Finland, saying that he possesses “decisive quality and the psyche that all football teams yearn for.”

Bold continued by complimenting Hojbjerg’s winning goal as a “missile” and lauding his “good fight” against Finland.

Hojbjerg received a rating of five out of six stars from Ekstrabladet, which praised him for selecting such an outstanding victor.

Hojbjerg future at Tottenham remains unclear

Over the summer, Spurs appeared ready to offload Hojbjerg, but they were unable to close the deal.

Rumors about a transfer to Atletico Madrid and Manchester United as well as late connections with a move to join London rivals Fulham came and went.

Although the Dane is now expected to stay at Tottenham at least through January, questions over his future will continue to be raised in the coming months.

Hojbjerg is on the bench as Ange Postecoglou focuses on Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and James Maddison as his starting midfield trio.

Even though Hojbjerg will get a lot of confidence from his goal against Finland, a departure in 2024 still seems inescapable.
