‘A threat’: Postecoglou could potentially play 22-year-old Spurs ace in seldom-seen position – journalist

Brennan Johnson was added to Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking lineup on the last day of the transfer window.

Just before the transfer window closed, the Lilywhites completed the signing of the Wales international for an alleged £47.5 million.

Johnson, who rose through the ranks at Nottingham Forest before joining Tottenham, had experienced an astonishing ascent to fame there.

Last season, the 22-year-old scored 10 goals overall and eight goals and three assists in the league for the Reds.

Despite all odds, Steve Cooper’s team was able to keep their Premier League status in Johnson’s first season back.

He scored a startling 19 goals in his debut season as a regular before having an exceptional top-flight season with Forest.

Johnson is a very adaptable player who gives Ange Postecoglou more choices, along with a number of other Tottenham attacking players.

‘A threat in any of the three roles’

In his most recent football.london Q&A, Alasdair Gold addressed a question from a fan on where he thought Johnson would play for Spurs.

According to the writer, the Tottenham newcomer would primarily play on the right side or in the center, but could also occasionally play on the left.

Brennan Johnson has the advantage of being able to play anywhere in that front line, a quality shared by many of the Spurs’ attackers, according to Gold.

In any of the three roles, his pace will make him a threat. He’s going to put a lot of pressure on everybody up there, in my opinion.

He typically plays on the right, therefore Kulusevski will likely be pushed more than most.

“However, Son’s versatility means that if Richarlison keeps having problems, either the South Korean or Johnson will be given the starting position.

“There are so many possibilities now, especially after Manor Solomon’s impressive performance last weekend and the will to compete of Perisic and Gil.

Johnson will therefore most often be seen on the right and center, but don’t rule out the rare appearance on the left.

Johnson has seven times for Forest played on the left wing, according to Transfermarkt.

In the transfer market, Postecoglou has a reputation for consistently finding gold, and Spurs have made some outstanding acquisitions this summer.

It will be fascinating to watch Johnson perform for Tottenham because he is a terrific talent. He is quite adaptable, which allows Postecoglou to experiment with many different combinations.
