The 27-year-old has been out of favor at Tottenham for some time due to his declining performances, so his departure is not entirely unexpected.
Daniel Levy has succeeded in getting rid of two undesirable talents this week, with Tanguy Ndombele joining Sanchez in Turkey. After failing to get rid of certain unwanted stars on transfer deadline day, such as Eric Dier, Yves Bissouma responded to the midfielder’s departure.
Nonetheless, upon Sanchez’s exit, he posted on Instagram ‘I will always have a place in my heart for you, @Spursofficial’.
Pedro Porro posted in the comments section ‘My crack’, added with a sad face emoji, whilst Dier added ‘El Patron’, meaning ‘The Boss’.
Sanchez’s message to Tottenham fans
“Six years at this place I called home,” wrote Sanchez. “Thank you for everything. I will always have a place in my heart for you @Spursofficial.”
Sanchez should have left years ago
Even for Sanchez’s own benefit, this long-awaited departure was one that ought to have taken place years ago.
He was never going to succeed, as was demonstrated by the fact that he was jeered by his own supporters last season.
Sanchez entered the club with a lot of promise after being acquired by Mauricio Pochettino from Ajax, but he simply struggled with the defensive aspect of the game and how quickly the game plays in England.

The first international break of the 2023–24 season will be regretted by many Tottenham supporters after the team’s excellent start to the new season. Spurs have made significant progress under Ange Postecoglou in the initial weeks, and aside from the disappointment of their Carabao Cup defeat at the hands of Fulham, they presently rank second.
Postecoglou, his Spurs players, and the supporters undoubtedly preferred to see league games continue rather than see domestic football put on hold for a fortnight after beating Burnley for five at the weekend. Tottenham will resume play after the forthcoming international matches with a home match against Sheffield United.
Prior to that, though, Postecoglou will be closely monitoring his Tottenham team as he attempts to secure a fourth straight league victory. What does he actually require from the international break?Below, football.london looks.
Johnson impact
Brennan Johnson will play for Wales over the international break before potentially making his Tottenham debut against Sheffield United at home. The first of Rob Page’s team’s two games is a Thursday night friendly at home versus Son Heung-min’s South Korea.
Wales will travel to Latvia for a Euro 2024 qualifying match when the Cardiff game is over. Prior to potentially making his Tottenham Hotspur Stadium debut against the Blades, the new Tottenham winger will be trying to find his rhythm in both games and get into some good form.
Over the next week or two, Postecoglou and his coaching team will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on the player.
Kulusevski influence
Dejan Kulusevski will feel pressure to keep his spot on the right wing in the Tottenham team now that Johnson has joined the team from Nottingham Forest. Perhaps he didn’t have the competition to truly challenge him previously, but now that he has the 22-year-old, he does.
The Swede, who did quite well in Tottenham’s last match at Burnley but wasn’t really having the impact he can have in the final third, needs a good international break to help him regain his confidence and perform at his peak. Given that they are currently third in Group F and trail leaders Austria by seven points after playing one fewer game, Sweden will undoubtedly need the 23-year-old to be at the top of his game in their two Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Estonia and Sweden.
Kulusevski, who is expected to lead the charge against Sheffield United, needs a solid international break in order to regain his prior standards.
Richarlison goals
In Tottenham’s final match at Burnley, Richarlison cut a disgruntled figure on the bench as Son Heung-min started through the middle and scored a hat-trick. The Brazilian, who was only on the field for the final 18 minutes at Turf Moor, was unable to influence the outcome of the match.
It might happen in his nation’s forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru. He really needs a goal to start his season and give him the confidence boost he needs. In their two games, the Selecao will be anticipated to score, and Richarlison should have opportunities.
It would only be advantageous for Postecoglou if he were to score.
Van de Ven debut

Postecoglou will monitor the progress of his international players, of course, but his primary attention will be on the players at Hotspur Way. The Australian coach has a limited pool of players to choose from because many have left for international competition and some others are out injured.
The 58-year-old will be trying to bring back Argentine sensation Giovani Lo Celso, who missed Burnley due to a quad injury, as soon as possible. During the international break, he does have the chance to heal, and it is hoped that he can do so as quickly as possible to be prepared for Tottenham’s remaining matches.
Over the next week or so, Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon will also be aiming to advance. Due to their separate injuries, neither has yet to play for Postecoglou, so they both need to be back in the mix as soon as possible to convince the Spurs manager to take them seriously.
Rodrigo Bentancur is still out with an injury, and Postecoglou suggested before the Burnley game that the midfielder might not return until November. The Uruguayan is striving to participate in practice, but it’s important to avoid sending the midfielder back too soon that he suffer another setback in his recovery from a damaged cruciate ligament.
Destiny Udogie will have time during the international break to regain full health after the sickness that forced him to withdraw from the Italy under-21 squad for their matches during the break in action. It would be wonderful if Postecoglou could have a few more boosters before league play after the manager of Tottenham has had a lot of success thus far.
