Leeds United have next Raphinha in waiting as footage emerges

Fans of Leeds United who miss having Raphinha, the now-FC Barcelona forward, light up their weekends may not need to look much further thanks to Finley Gorman, who is excelling at the youth level.

Gorman is quickly emerging as Thorp Arch’s worst-kept secret after scoring 20 goals and dishing up nine assists in his previous nine games.

Although it would be early to push him into the first team, it wouldn’t be unexpected if he was called up to the under-21 team within the next year.

There is no doubt that the Englishman is miles ahead of others his age in terms of growth, thus the sky is the limit for him.

Leeds United transfer pursuit of Charlie Taylor return from Burnley ‘doomed to fail’ – Phil Hay

According to Phil Hay, Leeds United’s efforts to rehire Charlie Taylor this summer were “doomed to fail” because of circumstances beyond their control.

On September 6, a journalist for The Athletic claimed on the website of the publication that Burnley’s left-back was unattainable because Vincent Kompany’s team “didn’t have the cover to let him go.”

As a result, Daniel Farke has identified the left-sided full-back as one of the few places in his team where the transfer window may have left him short; Jamie Shackleton, a midfielder, filled in for the goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday (2 September).

Hay often mentioned Taylor, 29, who left Elland Road for the Clarets six years ago, as a prospective signing at the position during the summer, but the effort to bring Taylor back finally failed.

Frustration

There isn’t much a buyer can do if a club isn’t willing to sell other than put money on the table they can’t reject, which was something the Whites were unable to accomplish throughout the whole of the window.

Although another season with Junior Firpo serving as the position’s senior expert won’t instill much confidence, it appears that the former Barcelona player will have the chance to finally recover from a difficult two years at Leeds United.

Sam Byram’s return has been helpful on the field, but, like Firpo, his injury history has already raised some red flags.

Leeds United

If Taylor hadn’t remained at Turf Moor and been able to give a long-needed solution at a problem position for the Whites, fans would probably have overlooked his contentious departure six years ago when he was accused of refusing to play by then-manager Garry Monk [Sky Sports].

In the Carabao Cup, Kompany has only used him once so far this season, but in the Premier League, he has used three other names on the left side of his defense.

That would imply that he had the money to let Taylor go. Taylor made 33 league appearances in the Championship last season, but it doesn’t appear like he will come close to that number in the Premier League.

But only the Belgian will be aware of what he needs on his team to be confident in his alternatives. So, for the time being at least, Farke and Leeds lost out on this move.
