According to Dan Plumley, it was probably best for Leeds United to let Luis Sinisterra go rather than subject it to yet another “huge legal battle.”
The financial expert acknowledged that given the club’s prior interactions with Jean-Kevin Augustin, they might not have wanted to retrace those steps.
After Sinisterra left on deadline day, Phil Hay claimed that the winger had threatened to sue over his contract, which Leeds ultimately decided against.
He exclusively told MOT Leeds News, “Potentially.”
Being a Championship club now, you simply have to be mindful of the nature of what you are dealing with because if you have players who are trying to force their way out and are wanting to leave and it turns into a legal battle, you then get into those situations that you really don’t want to deal with.
“There are times when it’s best to simply cut your losses, which makes room for someone else to enter.
Many fans don’t want specific players to leave, but if it escalates into a legal dispute, it may be wiser to let them go without a fight for the sake of the team.
“Leeds have attempted that before, and it’s been a messy process. This is just another illustration of where Leeds are at the moment.”
