Despite having a role to play from the bench for Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham is reportedly prepared to sell a center back to Turkey in the coming days.

Although the transfer market closed in England on Friday, Spurs can still sell players to specific nations, and it appears like former record-signing Davinson Sanchez may be the next man to go.

Rudy Galetti, a transfer expert, claims that the 27-year-old is nearing a deal to Galatasaray. The two clubs are now negotiating to finalize the trade, so the specifics should be worked out soon.

Given that Sanchez is currently the third-choice center-back behind Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, selling him now would come as a bit of a surprise.

The Colombian played the entirety of the opening weekend match at Brentford due to Romero’s injury and was given a start in the Carabao Cup loss at Fulham, where he missed the crucial penalty in the shootout.

By allowing Japhet Tanganga to leave on loan and keeping Eric Dier out of favor under Postecoglou, Spurs would be severely lacking at center-back if Sanchez left as well.

Galetti contends that Sanchez would be better off at Galatasaray, where he would be able to restart his career by playing frequently for the first squad in Turkey.

Sanchez not the only Tottenham star wanted in Turkey

Despite having struggled for the bulk of his time in north London, Sanchez fits the description well for Galatasaray, who are also interested in Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Although the specifics of the trade are yet unknown, the Galetti report states that a permanent deal is most likely, with Tottenham recovering about £17 million for a player who originally cost them £42 million in 2017.

Postecoglou anticipates bringing Dier back into the running if the trade proceeds, while Ashley Phillips, a summer addition, might also be asked to step up.
