Gary Lineker hails ‘sensational’ Tottenham star’s display against Burnley
With their third straight victory in the league, Tottenham Hotspur moved up to second place.
Spurs under Ange Postecoglou defeated Burnley 5-2, with Son Heung-min scoring his fourth hat-trick in the Premier League.
Tottenham, who have adapted well to Angeball, also had goals from James Maddison and Cristian Romero.
Maddison once again put in a stellar performance, giving Spurs a ton of creativity and harassing the opposition.
He provided the assist for Romero’s goal before adding his name to the score with an incredible curling finish inside the right-hand post.
He praised the playmaker on X, calling his goal “sensational” and saying, “What a player!”
Maddison reportedly signed a £170,000 per week contract with Tottenham after leaving Leicester City for £40 million.
According to what the 26-year-old has demonstrated thus far while wearing a Tottenham jersey, the club may have scored a steal.
Maddison established himself at Leicester as one of the top midfielders outside of the traditional large teams.
Even in the midst of the Foxes’ last season’s struggles, he nevertheless managed to salvage some credit from their disastrous relegation campaign.
Maddison is currently at a club run by a coach who is also making waves at N17 and is surrounded by top-tier talent.
He’s fun to watch, and I hope he and his colleagues can keep up the good job. Tottenham may benefit if that occurs.
Spurs confirm one more player departure despite transfer window closing
Harvey White progressed through the Tottenham system and eventually made it to the Lilywhites’ senior squad’s outer reaches. White made three first-team appearances for Spurs during his time at the club (Transfermarkt).
The young midfielder has already collected a substantial amount of experience in League One over the past few years. White joined Derby County for the second half of last year after spending the first part of the 2021–2022 season on loan with Portsmouth.
There was always a chance that White could have persevered and solidified himself in the Australian coach’s plans for the upcoming season with the arrival of new boss Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham this summer. The 21-year-old, however, was unable to break into the first team lineup once more this season.
Harvey White leaves Tottenham permanently
Even though White was mentioned in The Sun as one of the players Spurs were willing to offload this summer, there was little information on the player signing with a new team during the transfer window.
In the midst of the craziness of deadline day, White made a transfer to Stevenage, leaving his childhood team behind in quest of consistent first-team play.
In a statement, the club said: “We wish Harvey the best of luck in the future.”
Harvey White was always a highly skilled and hard-working young player, therefore it is sad to see him go. Unfortunately, it appears that he just wasn’t quite ready for the Spurs first team, therefore it was decided to split ways in the best interests of all concerned.
We will be closely monitoring his progress at Stevenage, and we are confident that with more game time now, he can blossom.
