Third biggest signing in club history on the horizon: Tottenham now expected to sign ‘brilliant’ player today-Report

Tottenham now expected to sign ‘brilliant’ player today, third biggest signing in club history

Brennan Johnson, a forward for Nottingham Forest, is anticipated to be signed by Tottenham Hotspur for £45 million today.

According to The Daily Mail’s transfer blog, which shared an update on Spurs’ acquisition of Johnson [01/09 07:16], such is the case.

Prior to tonight’s deadline, Ange Postecoglou has identified Johnson as his primary offensive target.

Over the past few days, Tottenham and Forest have been in intense negotiations over a transfer for the Welshman.

In fact, Ben Jacobs asserts that Spurs’ offer to sign Johnson is “imminent” as Postecoglou looks to strengthen his front line.

Additionally, it appears that Tottenham will finalize a £45 million deal to buy the 22-year-old today.

Tottenham expected to sign Johnson

According to The Mail, Forest is anticipated to sell Johnson to Spurs today for about £45 million.

Johnson would rank as the club’s third most expensive signing of all time if Spurs are successful in getting this one through the legal system.

The list’s current leader, Tanguy Ndombele, was acquired for £63 million back in 2019, while Richarlison was acquired for £60 million last summer.

Given that Johnson has only one season of Premier League experience, it would undoubtedly be a significant expenditure for Spurs.

The ‘great’ forward, however, had a promising season the last time around, scoring eight goals and dishing out three assists.

This would also be a blatant sign that Tottenham is supporting their manager, as Postecoglou is rumored to be’very keen’ to sign the winger.

After losing Harry Kane to a free transfer last month, Ange Postecoglou’s team is in need of a new attacker. Numerous people have been associated with them, but none more so than Forest star Johnson.

The newest was disclosed by journalist Ben Jacobs.

Tottenham’s bid for Brennan Johnson is imminent

Brennan Johnson is a target for Tottenham right now, and that is no longer a secret.

The North Londoners have been mentioned as potential suitors for the Nottingham Forest forward for some weeks, and today their interest might actually result in a bid.

According to reports, the Reds are reportedly asking for £50 million for Johnson after rejecting a £43 million offer from Brentford earlier this week.

To get him, Spurs will need to make a higher offer, and according to Jacobs, a bid from Tottenham is soon to come.

They have given Brennan Johnson priority, and we have known this for the past week and a half, he claimed. Whether they can reach a deal with Nottingham Forest is all that matters.I believe Nottingham Forest are sticking to their guns with their valuation of Johnson, which is why Tottenham may have to pay a little bit over the odds in order to get a deal done. In contrast to the James Maddison deal, in which Tottenham was able to move quickly and obtain a lower package than was anticipated or was Leicester’s position.

But Johnson will soon face a bid. By the time people read this, it might have already touched down. He currently ranks as Tottenham’s top priority.

Tottenham is only responsible for itself for waiting till the last day of the transfer window.

Since Brentford rejected a sizable bid from Nottingham Forest this week, Spurs will need to spend a lot of money to complete this deal. Nottingham Forest currently hold all the cards.

It’s unclear at this time whether Daniel Levy would be willing to pay above average for the ‘devastating’ Johnson.

In the ensuing hours, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
