Tottenham submit bid to sign Nottingham Forest star Johnson
According to trade expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly made an initial offer of over £43 million to recruit Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest this summer.
After selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for a significant sum of money, Spurs appear to be trying to create that money by buying a new striker to take the place of the Englishman.
The Lilywhites have recently been linked to targets including Jonathan David, Gift Emmanuel Orban, and Romelu Lukaku, but Johnson is allegedly their top choice.
Tottenham reportedly made an initial offer of roughly £43 million, including bonuses, according to Romano’s tweet. To induce Steve Cooper’s side to sell, Ange Postecoglou’s side also included a sell-on provision.
According to the journalist, Nottingham Forest decided to turn down Spurs’ offer because they wanted to keep hold of their best player. Romano asserts that Tottenham is still interested in signing Cooper despite the attitude of his team. As a result, they might present a better offer down the road.

Johnson is reportedly a player Chelsea is interested in adding to their front line this summer, but it appears Tottenham is trying to outdo the Blues by intensifying their chase of the 22-year-old.
Johnson had a strong debut season in the Premier League last year, contributing to Forest’s promotion to the top flight of England by scoring eight goals and making three assists in 38 league games.
Johnson is nimble, has the ability to finish off his chances and can dribble past opposing defenders in confined spaces. He also works really hard when not in possession of the ball. He might therefore prove to be a wise acquisition for Tottenham if they decide to sign him this summer.
Johnson may not have the attributes needed to play as a center forward for major Premier League teams like Spurs, though. Spurs would therefore be better off looking into alternative options to replace Kane’s striker position.
