Sources: Tottenham scouts watch Mikautadze after Burnley offer rejected
Football Insider has learned that Tottenham scouts observed Metz attacker Georges Mikautadze in action over the weekend.
Before the transfer season closes, the 22-year-old striker is in high demand, and Ajax is in negotiations with Metz to sign the Georgian international.
After scoring against Marseille a week earlier, Mikautadze scored again against Clermont Foot on Sunday (27 August), drawing the attention of scouts from Spurs, West Ham, and Leicester.
Earlier this summer, Burnley had a bid for the forward rejected.
Mikautadze led Metz to promotion to Ligue 1 with 24 goals last season.
The striker from Lyon, who scored 23 of those goals, also had eight assists.
After agreeing to an extension in November 2022, the Metz academy graduate’s contract in northeastern France has three years remaining.
He has contributed 26 goals and 10 assists to the team, despite only breaking into the starting lineup during the 2022–23 season.
Mikautadze played for Belgian club RFC Seraing for the previous two seasons while on loan, scoring an amazing 36 goals in 57 games in the top two categories of the country.
Tottenham is now in the final week of the transfer market and looking to replace Harry Kane.
Ivan Toney, who has been suspended, is a target for Spurs, according to a report from Football Insider on Monday (August 28). Spurs will consider a possible January transfer for him.
Ange Postecoglou’s team is presently led by Richarlison, who has not yet scored this season.
West Ham is currently looking for offensive reinforcements as Gianluca Scamacca is leaving the team this summer.
Following relegation, Leicester may lose both Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho in the last week of the transfer window.
