FINAL DECISION £115m : Tottenham ‘make final decision’ on splashing out £115m on Harry Kane replacement

Tottenham ‘make final decision’ on splashing out £115m on Harry Kane replacement

Tottenham face a bill of over £115m for Harry Kane’s potential replacement.

Spurs have whittled down their shortlist for the striker’s position and Ferguson is one of the players most liked by club chiefs. Head coach Ange Postecoglou is reported to be a ‘big admirer’.

However, ambitious Brighton are allegedly demanding a fee that would make the attacker one of the most expensive players of all time. The Seagulls would apparently want more than the £115million that saw Moises Caicedo depart the club for Chelsea earlier this summer.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Luton Town - Premier League

Tottenham are reportedly interested in Evan Ferguson

According to talkSPORT, Spurs have identified Ferguson as a possible candidate to replace Kane. But the north Londoners have held off making an offer this summer knowing that Brighton will dig their heels in.

The Seagulls are extremely unlikely to sell one of their best young players. Especially after losing Alexis Mac Allister and Caicedo this summer – two players who were crucial to their Europa League qualification last term.

Ferguson has scored seven goals in 22 Premier League appearances. He is highly rated by head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who has eased him carefully into first-team football.

The teenage sensation made his first start of the campaign in Brighton’s 3-1 defeat by West Ham on Saturday. He has previously provided back-up to the experienced Danny Welbeck and scored his first goal of the season in the opening day 4-1 thumping of Luton.

AFC Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is searching for Harry Kane’s replacement

“Ferguson is 18, but we have to control the age because he seems not like a normal 18-year-old,” De Zerbi said about Ferguson in May.

“He is a great player, he is already a great player, and I think he will become one of the best players, the best strikers in the Premier League. And I would like it if he can stay with us for a lot of years.”

It comes with Spurs reportedly still hoping to add depth to their attacking department before Friday’s transfer deadline. The north Londoners continued their excellent start to the season with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
