Since taking over as manager of Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou has made an impression with his new team on the field and in his post-game media statements.

In an apparent jab at commentator Gary Neville, Ange Postecoglou joked about “copying” Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s full-back strategy.

Since signing from Celtic, Tottenham’s new manager has presided over an amazing start to the season. Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie, who both performed admirably in Saturday’s triumph over Bournemouth, are somewhat to blame for this.

Former Manchester United defender Neville had mentioned the “Pep Guardiola idea” of full-backs tucking into midfield prior to the game. After the game on Saturday, the Spurs manager was questioned about the strategy, and his response implied he was aware of those statements.

Neville had stated on Sky Sports, “”I think these coaches have hijacked a Pep Guardiola notion and made it pretty inefficient. Without a doubt, the risk and reward are balanced, but Spurs still need to adjust.

When asked about the situation on TNT Sports, Postecoglou mentioned the City manager right away. He said, “I just copied Pep mate!” before describing in greater detail how his own strategy works.

We put a lot of effort into it. Sometimes it comes down to instincts, but the goal is to build a system that is as flexible as possible. Forget about being a full-back and enter the space as a football player instead. It is then up to us to make sure we are filling in the holes that are left.

Udogie contributed significantly to Spurs’ victory over Bournemouth by setting up Dejan Kulusevski for the game-winning goal. The goal by the Swedish international came after James Maddison, who had been acquired from Leicester over the summer, scored Tottenham’s first Premier League goal.

So far in the league, Spurs have scored twice in each of their contests, while Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has yet to record a victory. The former Rayo Vallecano manager is still missing a few important players, though.

According to the press release, the new shirt “builds on more than a century of tradition” and is an updated version of the famous uniform that earned Spurs the moniker “Lilywhites.” The new jersey has a linework pattern that is both subtle and recognizable, and it is claimed that this pattern was inspired by “the borough’s vibrant music scene and streetwear culture of the borough of Tottenham.”
