“Positive contacts”, “keen on a potential move” – Fabrizio Romano shares encouraging Tottenham transfer update

Gent striker Gift Orban is keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

Romano told reporters that Tottenham values the Nigerian talent and that they have already had “positive contacts” with the player’s representation in preparation for a possible transfer this summer.

He adds that Tottenham values Jonathan David as well, although there have been no actual negotiations for either player to date.

He stated:

“Yes, both players are appreciated, but for both players at the moment, while we’re speaking, there is still no concrete negotiation.“

“For Orban, they had some contacts on the player’s side. They pursued the player and had positive contacts because Orban is keen on a potential move to Premier League football and an important club like Tottenham. But, at the moment, there is still no official bid.”

Days before the start of the new season, Tottenham Hotspur lost Harry Kane to Bayern Munich and has not yet found a successor.

Over the previous several weeks, they have been connected to a number of forwards, including Mehdi Taremi, Jonathan David, Gift Orban, Romelu Lukaku, and Brennan Johnson.

Regarding Jonathan David, Ben Jacobs claimed in his podcast with Last Word on Spurs that although if the striker’s asking price is around £55 million, Spurs may be able to negotiate a deal at a lower price because the player is eager to join the club.

Spurs may not have much time, though, with the transfer window only having one week remaining until it closes, as Jacobs recently noted that it won’t be simple conducting business with Lille with so little time left in the window.

However, Gift Orban, who would only cost Spurs £25 million, might be a more affordable choice.

Tottenham has likely taken notice of the striker due to his remarkable track record, which includes 20 goals and 2 assists in 22 appearances during the previous season, as well as 6 goals in 6 games so far this season.
