111 touches, 99% pass accuracy: Ange strikes gold with 22-year-old Tottenham ace

On Friday night, Tottenham Hotspur expanded their lead over the other teams in the Premier League by five points.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs took the lead at Crystal Palace in the 53rd minute following a goalless first half.

Joel Ward, an opponent defender, was hit by James Maddison’s ball into the six-yard box, which ended up in the hosts’ net.

Then, in the 66th minute, Tottenham extended their lead thanks to a combination from Brennan Johnson and Maddison, who finished with Son Heung-min set up by the 22-year-old.

Spurs managed to hold on for all three points even though Palace scored a late goal back.

Although the Tottenham forward line put on a fantastic show, the back line—which included Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero—also merits praise.

The 22-year-old contributed several significant tackles, headers, and clearances. His quickness was also essential in getting Tottenham out of a tight spot on multiple occasions.

For example, he saved Spurs when he returned to block Will Hughes after Palace had easily broken through the visitors’ defense.

Van de Ven achieved several noteworthy results, according to Whoscored. Using 111 touches of the ball, he completed 97 passes with an incredible accuracy rate of 99 percent.

Throughout the game, he also won six ground duels, made two tackles, four clearances, and nine precise long balls.

Van de Ven’s signing is a true goldmine for Ange Postecoglou.

In addition to being quick, composed, disciplined, and capable of escaping the opposition’s press, he has also contributed to Romero’s increased calmness.

Not only is he an excellent player, but his attributes also elevate the players around him. That is a true star’s sign.

At Tottenham, everything appears to be going smoothly at the moment. The groundwork is in place for a great season, and as the reconstruction proceeds, there will be the chance for great years.
